On December 4th, 2014, at 9:30 PM I will inaugurate a small exhibition of my photographs at Sam's bar, located on Tsakalof Street in Kolonaki, just past the Photographic Circle, between Demokritou and Voukourestiou Streets.

The main body of the exhibition will consist of the photographs I displayed last spring at the "Mini Market Athina," owned by my student and friend Athina Karoki, supplemented with several new ones. They are all colored and square and represent an extension of an old black-and-white work with a square format, which I had called "Monumental." Here, however, the color and the "naive" subject matter add to the monumental form the dimension of a simpler joy of life, a "joie de vivre," as I like to call this new direction.

The reason I chose Sam's bar for the exhibition is that I recently discovered it, became a regular, and I enjoy its excellent cuisine, pleasant music, and the delightful regular customers, whose average age is not light years away from my own. I believe that if photography does not play on the exclusive field of galleries, it can wonderfully exist within the spaces that frame our everyday lives, especially if we choose and like them. After the Mini Market and Sam's bar, another friend with a delicatessen expressed the desire to host me, which makes me hope that the day will not be long when I will exchange my photos for smoked salmon and truffle oil.

I will be delighted to see you at the opening to have a drink together and to hang out with the sweetest Raf, the golden retriever that reminds me of our recently lost Vito.
