From June 10 until July 10, the "Athena Mini Market" in Voula will display thirty colorful and square photographs by Platon Rivellis, taken over recent months.

I have always believed that photographers can exhibit their work in the most diverse spaces, provided that these spaces represent them. This could be in a museum and gallery, or even simpler places, such as the cafe someone frequents, a friend's house, or even a professional space. Of course, the manner, style, and conditions of the exhibition must be adapted to each space and its role.
According to these thoughts, many should not have been surprised when last year I enthusiastically supported the idea of my new student and talented photographer Athena Karoki to exhibit her photos in the Mini Market, which she owns and where she works daily, in the area of Voula. The example of Ralph Eugene Meatyard, an optician by profession and a renowned American photographer who exhibited in his Kentucky store, surely inspired us. And why shouldn't someone try to blend their everyday life with their dreams? And share with their customers what they share with their friends?

This successful first attempt tempted me to use the space of the Mini Market to exhibit samples of my very latest work. And of course, those who know me are aware that along with pharmacies and kiosks, grocery stores are ideal places for me to unwind and exhibit.
The photographs that will be exhibited at the "Athena Mini Market" are one of my few and very recent attempts to use color in my photos. I try to combine the monumental aspect that my black and white photos expressed until today with a strange lightness and joy that color has added as a new element. The bizarre yet tender aspects of Greek provincial towns are a favorite subject of mine.
