The "Photographic Circle" is a non-profit cultural association, operating since 1988 and based in Athens.

Founder

The founder and president of the "Circle" is Platon Rivellis, a photographer, photography teacher, and author of theoretical works on photography and cinema.

Members

The "Photographic Circle" currently has around 200 members, whose contributions mainly support its financial independence. The 'Circle' has been funded by the Ministry of Culture and the Kostopoulos Foundation.

Anyone interested in the art of photography can become a member of the "Photographic Circle".

Purpose

The purpose of the Photographic Circle is:

  • The promotion of the art of photography
  • The creation of an educated photographic audience
  • The artistic cultivation of its members
  • The promotion of the artistic work of its members

The achievement of the above purpose is pursued through:

  • The organization of seminars, exhibitions, meetings, lectures
  • The publication of albums and books

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of the "Circle" consists of seven members with a three-year term. The term of the current board ends in December 2025. The composition of the current board is as follows: Platon Rivellis (President), Nana Karamagioli (Vice President), Lia Zanni (Secretary), Andreas Schoinas (Treasurer), Michalis Politopoulos, Christos Kopsachelis, and Gerasimos Tsepas (Members).

The activities of the Circle are supervised and promoted by an Administrative Committee appointed by the Board of Directors, which consists of Niki Gouzouasi, Pavlos Kourkafas, Panagiotis Markolefas, Angelos Michas, Lizi Pistola, Panos Rozakis, and Giannis Zisis.
